WITNESS: Lorraine's abortion story read by actor Eleanor Methven at A Day of Testimonies

Cecily Brennan is an Irish artist. This site includes selected exhibitions of work in video, sound, painting and sculpture made between 2001 and 2019. She lives and works in Dublin and Berlin.
The opening clip is from A Day of Testimonies, a major art event curated by Cecily Brennan for the Artists' Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin on the 26th August 2017. An event dedicated to reading and recording women’s abortion stories. The Artists' Campaign was set up in 2015 by Brennan and three other artists to fight for abortion access and reproductive rights for women in Ireland, both objectives achieved following a referendum on the 25th May 2018 which removed the ban on abortion. The Day of Testimonies was filmed by Kate Mc Cullough and Gozia Zur. The edited and subtitled films resulted in WITNESS: 4 compilations on DVD and on the Artists' Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment's Vimeo site accessible to all.
